A stunning sandstone building, MacArthur Chambers was constructed between 1931 and 1934, and was originally headquarters for the Australian Mutual Provident Society. However, the building became an important part of Australian history when in July 1942 American General Douglas MacArthur - Commander-In-Chief of the Allied Forces for the Pacific Region - moved to Brisbane and commandeered the premises as a base to conduct the crucial Pacific Campaign of World War II. And so the building came to be known as MacArthur Chambers. In keeping with this remarkable history, a permanent memorial featuring General MacArthur's original office is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 10am-3pm. Getting There:		201 Edward Street, corner Queen and Edward streets Brisbane. By car: Turbot, Ann, Queen, or Adelaide, then turn into Edward Street. By train: to Central Station, walk straight down Edward Street.
Car Parking:		One under cover park per apartment is $10 per night in Kings Parking (entrance off Elizabeth Street between Edward and Creek Street), but you must get the car park pass from reception before entering the park, or you will be charged by Kings at a higher rate.
Child Policy:		All other people are charged at $30.00 per person, i.e. anybody who sleeps in a bed. Maximum occupancy in each room is as shown in the room type description.
